When Wild Ducks stop on your waters and find little or no food, their go on there way in search of better feeding grounds.  But if they find plenty of their favorite natural foods growing there ducks will be more inclined to stay.  To have the best Duck hunting all that is necessary is to start a growth of their favorite foods.  Once you have a growth of aquatic plants established in those waters they will be permanent and reproduce for years to follow.

The Wapato Duck Potato is a very good all around wild duck food Canada geese, swan, and all ducks are fond of this plant.  The species of wild ducks which will feed upon Wapato depends largely upon the water conditions under which it grows If the waters remain nearly the same level the year around, mallards and other shallow water ducks will feed upon the tender shoots, tubers and seeds which it produces.  Price List

Sagittaria rigida

Another great food for all kinds of Wild Ducks.  It is a rapid grower and produces an abundance of food.  It has numerous acorn like tubers on it roots just beneath the bottom of the soil which your Ducks will dig up.  They are very hardy and will thrive in any fresh water lake, pond or stream.  Will grow in water depths from 6 inches to about 2 1/2 feet of water.

Puddle ducks are particularly found of the  seed from this plant.  It produces small berry-sized kernels which are good for mallards and wood ducks.  It will help hold puddle duck in your marsh well after other foods are gone.  Arrow Arum is a plant that is found in swamps and marshes. Wild Rice

Zizania aquatica

Wild Rice is a  reseeding annual wet seed.  The seed must be kept wet, if it is allowed to dry out it will not germinate.  It is the most popular food for shallow water feeding ducks. Plant in fresh waters on a soft mud bottom in 6 to 12 inches of water. This is one of our most popular items, order early as we usually run out of the seed by the end of May.  Water movement is extremely important with Wild Rice does not like a stagnant water, it should be planted where they is some water flow (an inlet, outlet, or springs coming into the pond).  Plant  35 to 45 pounds per acre.  Price List
